I’ve got Chills

Alexandra Carr-Malcolm, chill, cold, flu, ill, poetry, unwell

English: Promethazine-codeine cough syrup

Heavy eyes,

heavy heart,

dragon throat,

sense departs,

fire in nose,

eyes, small holes,

cactus swallow,

bones feel hollow.

Seasonal cold,

I feel old…

ache – top to toes,

dripping nose.

That’s how it goes…

Want my duvet,

don’t feel groovy,

need my bed,

I feel half dead!

Are You Sitting Uncomfortably?

Are you sitting uncomfortably?

Do I make you squirm?

Am I showing you up,

as a spineless cowardly worm?

Do my eyes pierce to your soul?

Can I see right through?

I am not so green to,

all the crap you do.

I do not have knitted brows,

from all the wool you tried to pull.

All the bull, you’ve chatted crap,

the manure heap now is full.

You’ve pulled some stunts,

within your time,

and this one is a flanker;

I didn’t think you’d stoop that low,

you really are a canker.

Candles spell out the traditional English birt...

It’s my birthday today,

and I’m in a good mood.

I’m out for the day,

for some wine and good food.

I still feel quite young,

though my mirror would scoff;

I feel twenty three,

erm… excuse me – don’t laugh!

I’ve got a few pressies,

I’ll be staying up late,

I’m hoping there’ll be,

Champagne and a cake.

We might skip the candles,

as there’d be quite a few,

I don’t fancy a lift,

from the local fire crew!

I hope you’ve enjoyed,

my celebratory poem,

it’s just a cunning way,

to get my birthday known!

You can send me good wishes,

for my special day,

but please – no bumps….

or we’ll be here all day!!

Writing journal

The verses I write,

from events that I see,

might not be your,

cup of rosy hot tea!

Not being clever,

don’t write to impress,

not for the glory,

or the fame of success.

I like to connect,

to thrill and inspire,

I don’t write of love,

all that passion and fire…

My lines are quite plain,

not obscure or sublime,

just everyday stuff,

caught up in a line.

If I am lucky,

I might make you think,

to stop and to ponder,

just before your next blink.

I hope that you feel,

you could do this too,

so pick up a pen,

and give it a go!

Sophy, centre, in Autumn Leaves. Alice Gray is...

Amber autumn,

carpets the ground,

teardrop leaves,

fluttering down.

Her beauty has faded,

her season is gone,

the harshness reflected,

in the cold winter sun.

Summer swifts sing,

their final love song,

as they take to the wing,

they no longer belong.

She weeps tears of petals,

as her dreams decompose,

her lover has left her,

to winter’s repose.

The Odd One Out

Square Peg in a Round Hole - geograph.org.uk -...

There is something wrong,

a part of me’s broke,

it’s true, I’m not messing,

it’s really no joke!

I’ve known for a while now,

without much real doubt,

when I was created,

they missed a bit out.

You know how I know?

It’s quite simple, you see,

the odd one out,

It is always me!

I stand in a room,

full of people – and me,

they talk and they chatter,

I’m as quiet as could be.

I feel quiet, and awkward,

don’t know what to say,

I try to join in,

but feel in the way.

I once went for lessons,

to be more assertive,

to learn how to fit in,

not to be shy and furtive.

Needless to say,

it just didn’t work,

you can’t fix what’s broken,

if it’s simply a quirk.

So I stand in a corner,

and try to blend in,

hope nobody notices,

the pickle I’m in!

Rave

Aunty Carole and Uncle Dave,

went out one night,

to a warehouse Rave!

With bobble hats,

upon their head,

they danced until,

they felt half-dead.

With neon whistles,

around their neck,

they bopped away,

they did – by ‘eck!

Around the clock,

– until half ten,

then they went,

back home again.

They made a cuppa,

took off their coats,

then snuggled up to

watch, ‘Murder She Wrote’.

Dave looked at Carole,

and with a grin,

said, ‘I’m really glad,

we didn’t stay in!’

With matching PJ’s,

and his ‘n’ her mugs,

Carole Withany,

gave him a hug!

Am I mad,

or am I sane?

Is this real,

and what’s to gain?

I do not think,

the way you do,

I do not see ,

the world as tho’,

each instant,

is in monochrome

no black, no white,

no sin atoned.

There is no evil,

right or wrong,

Just shades of grey,

no one belongs;

each coin a side,

yet both the same;

I ask once more –

Am I sane?

The Hare that came closer...

Bared earth

fallow fields

ploughed furrows

concrete puddles

frosted peaks

morning hare

runs wild

winter sun

bleached sky

mist hangs

heavy air

winter cloaks

autumn leaves.
