I have a friend,
Carole with an, ‘e’,
who always,
courted tragedy.
She is the one,
that you will know,
skirt tucked in pants,
she crossed the road.
With flashing earrings –
Disco diva,
at party time,
you dare not leave her.
Across the floor,
her stuff she’ll strut,
with loo roll fluttering,
from her foot.
She plays the bagpipes,
I swear it’s true!
With cheeks bright red,
she’ll kill a tune!
If she were a colour,
I have to say,
shocking pink,
would make her day!
You know the saying…
Why’s it me?
That comes from my friend,
Carol Withany.
We all will know,
a Carole Withany,
she is the best friend,
that could ever be!

Sounds like a lovely friend!
Oh she is!!!!
😀
Enjoyed your photo choice to accompany this piece! 🙂
Thank you – the mad bird, is a pen that my friend bought me – the other mad bird at the bottom is my best friend with bagpipes!! 😀
(she will so kill me when she reads this comment!)
It took a while for me to get the title, but I finally did 🙂
Ah good! I did wonder if it was too obscure!
My friend was giving her details to a company over the phone – they asked for her name and she said it was, Carole with an ‘e’ Bloggs – the letter arrived addressed to Carole Withany Bloggs – Doh!!
(Her real surname is not Bloggs!! lol!)
Wow, I’m famous look and see,
for I am Carole with an e.
A poem is written on the net,
from my bestest friend yet.
It’s there for all the world to look,
but they can see I’ve come unstuck.
For I am the mad bird like she said,
prone to mishaps whereever I’m lead.
It took over an hour on that day,
to hold the bagpipes in the proper way.
I puffed and puffed to make a sound,
but nowt came out of that sqeaky mound.
One last thing I want to put,
I may be as nutty as a nut,
but my bestest friend, you see,
is almost as mad, as mad as me.
With apologies to the propper poets.
Hahahahaha
Thanks Carole!!!
Brilliant reply – I think we need to publish a book together!
Only one thing… ‘almost as mad’ I think I need to work on that!!
Squishy(((Hugs)))

Nice tribute to a dear friend.
Thank you 🙂
My best friend growing up was Carole with an e and she, too, has courted tragedy. I owe you…when I saw your photo you reminded me to call a cousin who just had surgery (you look alike in a way) and now you remind me to call Carole…:0) Nice poem, too.
Hehe thank you for wonderful reply!
Everyone needs a Carole with an e in their life 🙂
What would we do without them!?

Brilliant Alex, you have my cousin down to a t!! Lmao at that ‘Witherny’,
Your poem’s really good too Carole x
Hehe thank you Jacqui.
Miss Withany is quite a character and the bestest of friends 😀
That’s brilliant Alex, you have Carole down to a t!!! Lmao at ‘Witherney’
Yours is very good too Carole x
Haha thank you!
Knowing the scrapes she gets into it could be a work in progress with more to follow!!!
🙂
Now how did that happen? Didn’t think first comment got through. Don’t mind if you delete one 🙂
Yes, she’s a character alright ha ha
Btw, my very first wordpress blog is showing as my user name, which is odd!
Haha Aw don’t worry – WordPress must be having an off day!
😀
Seems like it, now it’s saying i’m anonymous. WordPress does tend to throw you from one blog to the next if you comment on a wordpress blog. Have you noticed that?
Lovely site Alex 🙂
Thank you Jacqui!
Yes I had noticed you’d become anonymous – I thought you’d just gone shy!!
I’ve not noticed me throwing me from one blog to another – but often I click comment and it panics and goes back to the all messages screen ))rolls eyes(( that’s technology for you!!
🙂

Hello Carole
What is it about girls with the name Carole? I too love making up poems and now I am having a go at writing my first book. I’ve gone through life referring to myself as Carole (with an “e”) so I thought Carole Withaney would be a natural pseudonym. Looks like you have beaten me too it! By the way, love the poem and the humour. You sound like a lovely ditsy person.
Thank you for sharing it
love Carole
