A show of daffodils by the A6091 Melrose bypas...
The Wilderness Years are over,

they are with us no more;

while birds migrate for winter time,

so Death has closed the door.

The days were, oh, so fleeting,

like butterflies in spring.

The time we spent together

made my lonely heart sing.

Shared memories of daffodils,

we laughed until we cried –

we cried until our tears ran dry,

I was ever by your side.

How could this have happened?

How could you leave this way?

I always think about us –

and mourn you every-day.

Buddhism, Ego, gold, poetry, Sunday best

I’ve taken my ego

out of its box.

I’ve taken it out,

and brushed it off.

I’m wearing it

for Sunday best;

multi-coloured –

like Joe’s vest.

My ego today

Is regal and bold;

given its colour

It would be gold!

The main gatehouse of Harlech Castle. The step...
What should I do?

When your words are law,

and you lie to me,

whilst living a fantasy.

I love to hear,

your romanticised tales,

your charisma and charm,

full of dangers that harm.

You’re rarely here –

gone for days at a time,

but I’m eagerly hoping

that you’ll come home soon.

So I wait in this castle,

alone and afraid;

the hunger it rages,

it goes on for days.

You call me your Princess,

and you are the King.

Your court it protects you –

you do what you want to.

You banished the Queen

in such a cruel way,

with lies and with hatred,

she’s forbidden to see me.

You call me names,

and you made me ashamed.

You’re meant to protect,

not hurt and neglect.

I am but a child.

I am only twelve.

Your Princess, your daughter,

why would you hurt me?

Your kingdom was cruel,

and your realm it was strong;

but the day that you died,

it fell with your lies.

Fantasise

and cast your eyes

over the mysteries

of your life’s long dreams

Philosophise

see through the lies

that tie you down

and cause you pain

Hypnotise

those who criticise

show them the way

that you now pave

Apologise

to those by your side

for our foolish ways

that caused them pain

Romanticise

look through rose eyes

for one true love

who will hole you close

Black Heart
You take my heart and rip it out

you stamp it in the ground,

then toss it in the gutter

where it cannot be found.

You savage, you shred it,

until you see the blood.

You cast it off and kill it

and grind it in the mud.

I pick it up and wrap it,

I’ll take it home to keep,

for I will not be needing it,

I’ll bury it and weep.

My poor heart it is broken

You’ve left it all in tatters.

You walk away and leave it,

To you it doesn’t matter.

Tea in a Meißen pink-rose teacup 日本語: マイセンの紅茶カップ

Look in my eyes,

tell me you care.

Tell me the truth –

If you dare.

Don’t look away

from me again.

I know your heart,

I see your pain.

I know your mind,

I see your fear;

I look away

to hide my tears.

One day my friend,

we may be free,

to sit and talk,

and share some tea.

Rainbow transience

ephemera of the mind,

love intransigent

no respect of time.

Shimmering splendour

the summer of our life.

Majestic magnificence,

cutting with a knife.

What tantalising trickery

deceiver of our sight,

fleeting, sneering, mockery,

obsessional opulent light.

Delightful and delusional,

experienced by all.

Impermanent illusion,

to trip and then to fall

Cloud burst emotions

pour down like summer rain.

Refractive reflections,

the eternal lovers’ pain.

What a brilliant opportunity 🙂

Dagda Publishing

Hello all.

We would like to invite writers and poets to contribute to our next anthology of poetry, which is a follow up to our recently published anthology “Concrete Jungles” – available through Amazon, Smashwords on ebook and Lulu.com for paperback copies.

Our plan for the next anthology shall be a very traditional, along the theme of the metaphysical. We hope to feature works dealing with the more esoteric, romantic side of the human experience, in the vein of the classic metaphysical poets. So think life, death, nature, romance and classic philosophical themes. A real chance to showcase your talents as a writer.

We are looking for both formal poetry structures, and more contemporary styles, and even free verse. So in other words, knock yourselves out with this one. We’d like to see what you can do.

Please send submissions (maximum of 4/5 a time so we can give our…

Slow Day

F5, followers, poetry, refresh, slow day, WordPress

I’ve checked my stats,

it’s so slow today.

What’s going on?

No one’s reading poetry.

I’ve checked the counter,

and gave it a tap.

I think it is broken –

well… this is crap!

I’ve writ my heart out!

(at least I’ve tried…)

What’s going on?

Have my followers died?

I’m clicking refresh,

and I’ve broken F5!

Still no views –

anyone alive?

I’ll keep a check.

C’mon orange square-

please flash up…

show that someone cares!

Not Going Right Day!

April showers, bird song, humour, rain, rainbow, Weather

It’s a not going right day,

my alarm did not sound,

so I’m late and I’m cross,

and I’m rushing around.

It’s a not going right day,

I quickly undress,

the shower’s luke warm,

now I’m cold and I’m stressed!

It’s a not going right day,

I’ve run for the bus,

the driver didn’t see me,

he’s pulled off in a rush.

It’s a not going right day,

the rain lashes down,

(I’ve forgotten my brolly,)

as I walk into town.

It’s a not going right day,

I won’t be on time.

I look at my watch,

it’s one minute to nine.

‘It’s a not going right day!’

the receptionist shouts.

I look down and I cringe,

my top’s inside out!

It’s a not going right day,

I’ve forgotten my phone.

Each job is a nightmare,

and I long to go home.

It’s a not going right day,

but not for long…

as I see a bright rainbow,

and birds burst into song.
