I am waiting for my turn.

Playing the game,

forever stuck.

Do not pass GO,

do not collect £200.

I am waiting to see the blue Angel,

to battle the red square,

stroll down Park Lane

and stay a while…

at the Mayfair.

I am waiting for my Chance,

my, Get Out of Jail Free,

the bank error in my favour,

to win second place in – anything,

my inheritance.

Instead,

I go back three spaces,

make general repairs to my green house,

pay my taxes – that’s fine,

for Doctor’s fee – read prescription.

I’m done with waiting!

Do I pay a £10 fine,

or take a Chance,

or do I wait –

two die?

Silence

Not a word,

not a word,

you do not grace me,

within, without,

I wait,

I wait,

with sullen pout.

My fate,

my fate,

How can it be?

So silently;

you give me,

not a thought,

not a thought.

Isle of Wight - Steam Train

Stuck on a train,

delays again,

waiting’s a pain;

here comes the rain,

and I’m stuck on a train.

All that rushing in vain,

it’s always the same,

passengers complain,

as we’re stuck on the train,

watching the rain…

I hang on your words,

like a condemned man,

waiting, waiting, waiting;

the hour glass ticking,

moods pensive and tense.

To and fro, fro and to…

Cadaver pendulum swinging,

this way and that,

that way and this…

Tides ebb and flow,

moons wax and wane,

days come, weeks go.

Still waiting, waiting…

ever waiting, for

just one word,

from,

you.

Fantasise

and cast your eyes

over the mysteries

of your life’s long dreams

Philosophise

see through the lies

that tie you down

and cause you pain

Hypnotise

those who criticise

show them the way

that you now pave

Apologise

to those by your side

for our foolish ways

that caused them pain

Romanticise

look through rose eyes

for one true love

who will hole you close

Standing in the Shadow

Moon shining over the sea

Standing in the shadow of this mood

no longer ruler of my emotions;

visited by ghosts of a bygone age

I cannot shake the stardust from my eyes.

The silence is deafening.

The memories blinding.

With heavy heart and a trail of tears,

I dream the dreams from all those years.

The diamond flash of a smile or a look,

the scent of a memory.

What will be?

Will it be at all?

A roller coaster ride of life,

not knowing what to expect;

not knowing how I’ll react.

You see the sun, but inside I’m the moon;

do you not see the mask behind the veil of tears,

do you care or even contemplate the consequences –

of doing nothing?

I can sit and lament.

I could stand and fight.

I prefer to watch and do neither;

but it will not come,

and I cannot find it.

So, I’ll just sit and wait…

Within my mind I see your face,

still haunted by the sound of your laughter,

recalling the warmth of your sweet embrace.

All these I carry within my heart.

See my head turn as I hear your name,

watch my heart break when you touch my dreams,

the tears that burn with the memory pain.

All these I carry within my heart.

My lovely, lovely, paramour.
