Hades.

Slowly, slowly, creeps the dawn,

with monstrous shapes,

and shifting form,

‘tween death and sleep,

my soul doeth lie,

this never world,

where hope does die.

Alas my sense,

it leaves me cold,

splintered spine,

as I’ve grown old

and weary of

this mortal world,

a waiting hell,

backdrop

unfurled.

The antidote

to death

is sleep –

where

Daemons

sneer, and

angels

weep.

Punch and Judy's Carribean Vacation

Do you know,

the other side of me?

Where the grass is greener,

and the soul is darker.

Do you know only,

my second face?

Not like the rest,

the one I keep for best.

Do you know,

if this is sunny side up

heads up, tales down,

turn that frown

upside down?

I think you know,

Little Miss Sunshine,

but have you met Judy

within or without?

Do you know,

the essence of me?

Not that of vanilla,

of sugar and spice,

but one of fear.

Do you know,

the other side of me?

Where the grass is greener,

and the soul is darker.

Sleep is not happening

sleep will not come

my heart it is pounding

and my mind is undone.

The thoughts they are taunting

with memories flirting

the darkness is daunting

as my soul is hurting.

Sleep is not happening

sleep will not come.

The main gatehouse of Harlech Castle. The step...
What should I do?

When your words are law,

and you lie to me,

whilst living a fantasy.

I love to hear,

your romanticised tales,

your charisma and charm,

full of dangers that harm.

You’re rarely here –

gone for days at a time,

but I’m eagerly hoping

that you’ll come home soon.

So I wait in this castle,

alone and afraid;

the hunger it rages,

it goes on for days.

You call me your Princess,

and you are the King.

Your court it protects you –

you do what you want to.

You banished the Queen

in such a cruel way,

with lies and with hatred,

she’s forbidden to see me.

You call me names,

and you made me ashamed.

You’re meant to protect,

not hurt and neglect.

I am but a child.

I am only twelve.

Your Princess, your daughter,

why would you hurt me?

Your kingdom was cruel,

and your realm it was strong;

but the day that you died,

it fell with your lies.

I see the child within you,

with your boyish short fair hair.

I hold my arms out to you

I want to show I care.

They may have left you

broken, bewildered and abused,

but I will never leave you

feeling neglected, sad and used.

You stand there like a ghost child,

one sock up and one half down.

too sad, too shy, too quiet,

Your face a pale, sad, frown.

Your little dress is crass and short,

your shoes are scuffed and worn,

your toys are few and far between,

your bear, one eyed and torn.

I see you quietly playing.

keep out the grown-ups way,

don’t let them know of what you think,

they cannot make you say.

Come  child, sit here upon my knee,

Let me soothe away the pain;

cry out your little heart to me

they can’t hurt you again.

Hush child, no need to cry,

I will wipe away your tears.

Just hold my hand and follow me,

I can soothe away your fears.

Hold strong, my love, rest in my arms;

be still and do not weep.

Listen to my lullaby

I’ll guard you whilst you sleep.

Be brave and bide your time Karen,

your future may be bright.

Hold the pain, the memories

take up your pen and write

Wide-lightening

I had a dream

and you were there;

I didn’t feel love,

but I did feel scared.

Oh so watchful

by your guarded gaze;

it was not love

that kissed the days.

I am a fool!

For all these years,

you don’t love me

or my wasted tears.

You are too scared

of what might be.

You have litte regard,

or respect for me.

It is all clear

and I see it so;

so why can’t I

just let go?

I’ve made you Master

to my slave.

It’s just the power

that you crave.

This will not end

of that I’m sure,

until one of us

is no more.
