I have a friend,

Carole with an, ‘e’,

who always,

courted tragedy.

She is the one,

that you will know,

skirt tucked in pants,

she crossed the road.

With flashing earrings –

Disco diva,

at party time,

you dare not leave her.

Across the floor,

her stuff she’ll strut,

with loo roll fluttering,

from her foot.

She plays the bagpipes,

I swear it’s true!

With cheeks bright red,

she’ll kill a tune!

If she were a colour,

I have to say,

shocking pink,

would make her day!

You know the saying…

Why’s it me?

That comes from my friend,

Carol Withany.

We all will know,

a Carole Withany,

she is the best friend,

that could ever be!

I hang on your words,

like a condemned man,

waiting, waiting, waiting;

the hour glass ticking,

moods pensive and tense.

To and fro, fro and to…

Cadaver pendulum swinging,

this way and that,

that way and this…

Tides ebb and flow,

moons wax and wane,

days come, weeks go.

Still waiting, waiting…

ever waiting, for

just one word,

from,

you.

Pillow Talk

My idea of paradise,

when I don’t set,

my clock at night;

and in my bed,

in peaceful slumber,

where dreams of you,

my woes outnumbered.

The duvet clings,

as lover’s arms;

the pillow talks,

with all its charm.

Nought shall wake,

this blissful state,

as no alarm,

can make me late.

Take a cup of envy,

and mix it with some greed,

season it with hatred,

then add some, woe is me!

Plus one spoon of ego,

marinade in pity,

righteous indignation,

will make the mixture pretty.

Make a quick snap judgement,

blend it with assumption,

now, Prapancha Soup,

is ready for consumption!

The Rainbow of my teenage dreams,

colours abound ~ reds, golds and greens.

You’re deadly real, but not quite there,

can’t be held, we can but stare.

We don’t all see the same stormed arc;

my beautiful, beautiful Rainbow Dark.

I never went to Dublin,

or strolled along the shore.

I never walked on Grafton Street,

or wore the pearls you swore.

I never came to visit you,

and relive bygone days;

to welcome ghosts that haunted me,

or weep upon your grave.

Moon, Venus and Jupiter

Oh, Brother Moon,
where are you?
cry Sister stars,
for it is dark,
and we a’fear,
the silence clear,
please light the way,
so we can play,
in night’s a new,
and lead a merry
dance we will!
For you can still,
our beating stars,
with words afar
outstripping ours.
Without your beam,
your words unseen,
your moon not full,
this night grows dull…

85 – Under the covers (Photo credit: minxlj)

I’m in a dilemma –

Oh what should I do?

Why is it just me,

that this happens to?

I’m in my posh frock,

peng from head to my toes.

There is just one problem,

the spot on my nose!

It glows like a beacon,

landing the planes,

I really can’t squeeze it,

‘cos I can’t bear the pain!

There’s only one option –

one thing I can do,

hide under my duvet,

and eat a chocolate or two!

Dying to meet you…

Did I tell you…

I’m dying to meet you,

I have to say,

I’m dying to meet you,

in every way.

Put on the kettle,

I’m coming home,

and it will feel,

like you’ve never been gone.

Tell my Grandma,

to wear her best smile,

and tell my Grandad,

to stoke up the fire.

I’m dying to meet you,

I have to say,

tell Mum to collect me,

I’m on my way…
