Birds in a row

The day you left,

and walked out the door,

the heart of the house,

beat no more.

You took the flame,

right out of the fire,

clouds cuddled the sun,

and the moon did cry.

The birds they fell silent,

respecting the day,

when you walked out the door,

and went far away.

Alexandra Carr-Malcolm, always on my mind, heartbreak, longing, loss, love, Love song, memories, our tune, poetry, radio, tears, yesteryear

Bush Radio

This is my,

very last love,

song to you.

It is time to,

say goodbye,

and move,

on.

I heard, our tune,

on the radio today,

it took me back.

Oh – how the years,

have dropped away.

I stopped to listen,

I thought things through,

a silent tear escaped,

as I remember how,

I still love you.

The years have come,

and the years have gone,

without you by my side,

the echoes of my yesteryear,

sing, always on my mind.

This is my,

very last love,

song to you.

It is time to,

say goodbye,

and move,

on.

Blue Moon Blue

Giving up and,

giving in…

a writers’ pain,

a lovers’ dream.

Blue moons come,

and blue moons go,

the pain remains,

of losing you.

The thought of,

having you no more,

is like the song,

without the score.

To give you up,

without a doubt?

but only when,

the blue moon’s out.

Broken Angel

An angel with,

a broken wing,

can be the most,

dangerous thing.

Hurt her once,

injure her thrice,

her heart one day,

will thaw like ice.

And once that hurt,

is healed and done,

she’ll fly from you,

up to the sun.

You’d better watch,

your back, I say,

lest she throw a,

thunderbolt your way!

How can the sea,

leave the shore?

How can the moon,

the stars ignore?

How can I live,

without my heart,

and grieve for you,

whilst we’re apart?

How can my sun,

no longer shine?

I will not see,

sunrise sublime.

How can the word,

without the book,

the empty nest,

without the rook.

How can the empty

space be filled?

By graduations,

new lives rebuild.

Looking Glass

She looks in the mirror,

and stares in the glass.

Memories visual,

the haunting has passed.

Recalling events,

reflected in front,

and wonders quite simply,

when did I become?

These walls imbued,

with poet’s mood,

whilst words refrain,

deflecting pain;

the primal scream,

relives the dream,

of love once scorned,

this life sojourned.

the stockings were hung by the...tv stand

I see an old lady,

and I think of you –

enjoying her garden,

as so should you

Tinsel and fairy lights,

I really miss you;

coloured stockings hang,

each a memory from you.

Then comes the summer,

and I mourn for you,

for all the lost days,

and the things we can’t do.

When I hear a joke,

I want to tell you,

to laugh like two schoolgirls,

‘til tears wet cheeks through.

Each birthday ticks by,

I wait for your card,

I know it won’t come,

but it still hits me hard.

When I see an old lady,

it seems so unfair,

‘cause you’ll never grow old,

no stick, no grey hair.

When I see an old lady,

with daughter at side,

I think to myself,

That should be I…

I hang on your words,

like a condemned man,

waiting, waiting, waiting;

the hour glass ticking,

moods pensive and tense.

To and fro, fro and to…

Cadaver pendulum swinging,

this way and that,

that way and this…

Tides ebb and flow,

moons wax and wane,

days come, weeks go.

Still waiting, waiting…

ever waiting, for

just one word,

from,

you.
