I’ve bought my ticket,
I’m going 1st Class!
Setting out on this quest,
on this lives long path.
My past is a story,
an interesting read,
but I’m leaving my baggage,
of which I don’t need.
I look through the window,
recognise all I see,
the Buddha land scenery,
familiar to me.
The weather is clement,
worldly winds have calmed,
the passengers valiant,
Dharma Sister’s at alms.
I’m enjoying the journey,
no rush to get there;
with guide book in hand,
and the wind in my hair!
We stop at the station,
other travellers alight,
we’re sharing this vision,
Enlightenment in sight.

I look in the mirror,
and what do I see?
A face staring back,
that’s simply not me.
I open my heart,
and what do I find?
A limitless space,
compassionate and kind.
I open my mouth,
and what tumbles out?
Harmonious words,
with truth and no doubt.
I search in my head,
what goes on in there?
A radiant mind,
pure, like clear mountain air.

I am a block of stone,
in the process of being,
carved by Dharmic hands,
Bodhisattvas and Buddhas create,
the future potential, to be.
I am not that of marble,
Cold, flashy and fragile,
nor that of sandstone,
easy to carve, easy to crumble,
neither am I flint stone,
hard, impenetrable, unyielding.
I am just good old stone –
nothing special.
The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas,
Carve my features,
Chip by grain,
they shape my,
future form.
Potential,
I can,
attain!

Just a little message to say….
I will be away on retreat for two weeks – back on the 29th June. Sorry I have been a little less active this week – I have been preparing for the retreat – lots of reading to do!
If you feel lost without me
))grins((
Please feel free to look through some of my older stuff and let me know if there are any favourites – or any duds!
When I return I am looking at pulling a few poems together under the theme of, ‘Longing and Loss’.
It would be extremely helpful to have any feedback you feel fit to pass on to me – (I have a thick skin – I can take it!!)
See you all soon!!
Alex

Sleep is not happening
sleep will not come
my heart it is pounding
and my mind is undone.
The thoughts they are taunting
with memories flirting
the darkness is daunting
as my soul is hurting.
Sleep is not happening
sleep will not come.

inI’m sorry I used your toothbrush,
really I truly am.
I don’t know what came over me,
please don’t tell me Mam!
I really wasn’t thinking straight,
it was merely my mistake,
I saw it sat upon the sink,
it was the obvious choice to take.
A spur of the moment action,
to right some rancid breath,
a brush, a swill, to clear the air,
to prevent halitosis death.
I thought I was doing the right thing,
just to help out, you see?
To make his teeth go pearly white,
with breath all minty and clean.
I know it was quite wrong of me,
and it really wasn’t right,
but now at least the doggies teeth,
are clean and really white!

Do you ever wonder,
every time you read,
if this is about you and,
the way you have behaved?
Can you twist the words around,
to fit your circumstance?
Does your heart still skip a beat,
as the butterflies start to dance?
Does it not occur to you,
to stop and take a look,
if I’ve named and shamed you,
and put you in my book?
Should you stop to think a while,
and maybe even ponder,
if my words refer to you,
do you ever wonder?

You made the same mistake as her;
the truth is staring you in the face,
screaming so loud, you cannot see,
that you walk to the same dark place.
You’ve ventured down this path before
too far, turn back, embrace the pain
shame and defeat, walk hand in hand.
Is it too late to start all over again,
and to make the same mistake as her?

This place doesn’t feel deserving,
whilst people’s tempers turning,
all this is occurring,
while the streets are burning.
Turn around, cry for help,
when all you see is yourself,
all of this is occurring,
while the streets are burning.
This place you may fear,
is the place that is right here,
all of this occurring,
while the streets are burning.
Try to put out the fire,
Is this really your desire?
Are you really deserving,
while the streets are burning?
