His pint glass half empty,

he’s nursing the blues;

always bitter, never mild,

flat cap and scuffed shoes.

She hoovers the house,

with stars in her hair,

sings to her muse,

thanks god he’s not there.

As he sits in the pub,

nursing his woes,

the footy is lost,

as the last whistle blows.

In her Primarni dress,

she scrubs hard the floor,

heart in her mouth,

dreads the key in the door.

He shuffles on home,

with her heart in his boots,

a belly of beer,

and a loin full of fruit.

She accepts his gift,

with the grace of a Queen,

a necklace of violets,

blacks, blues, and greens.

He broods and he dreams,

cultivating his grudge;

she’s stolen his youth,

this old, plain, drudge.

She lies stock-still

as the stars in the air.

He can no longer hurt,

what is no longer there.

Stars over Sea

Bury my heart upon the hill,

So I can count the stars,

deafened by my silent rage,

the world’s a critic and life’s a stage,

you sent me to an early grave,

to dance with my daemons,

in a barbed wedding gown,

you broke my crown,

and lowered me down,

so I can haunt the stars.

How dare you call my name,

when you are broken too,

more damaged and fragile than I,

I hope I made you cry,

in that balmy summertime,

occupy my body and mind,

I’ll bury my heart on the hill,

so I can dream of the stars.

Dedicated to my dear cousin Alan – may you rest in peace – you will be missed, I hope you can dance with the stars.

As she whispers to herself,

her shouts become shadows,

and heartbeats chime thirteen;

the pain in her chest is not surpassed,

by the memory of just before midnight.

Why did she stay? When all about said,

run, flee, escape, (or) you’ll rue the day.

Holding a bouquet of disdain,

she will mourn the bride,

and hide the pain.

amazing dawn chorus

It’s six o’clock in the morning,

the dawn chorus performing,

I didn’t sleep a wink last night,

as I cried, and put the world to rights.

The world continues turning,

tears leave my eyes burning,

it’s over and done, your finally gone,

leaving my broken heart yearning.

Cremate me in your

fires of passion,

burn my soul

indelibly,

memories will

a story fashion,

of how we

loved,

and used

to be.

Polski: Rycerze Okrągłego Stołu i święty Graal...

The greatest love story,

never told,

needn’t be,

the ones of old.

Living in lands,

cloaked with dreams,

where archetypes rule,

and tears become streams.

When day becomes night,

and Knights rule of old,

where the greatest love stories,

are never told.

Pick up a pen,

and brandish your sword,

battle your daemons,

and pen your words,

look to your heart,

for stories held close,

let the midnight ink glisten –

stars dancing with ghosts.

May rainbows arc brightly

and clouds cloak bad dreams,

shooting stars sparkle,

and waltz with moonbeams.

and the moons of Mars,

glitter in the sky.

My lover’s tears,

weeps a million years,

silently each night.

To you I fly,

through rainbow skies,

riding clouds of unicorn white.

My broken heart,

as my love departs,

Helios has taken flight.

Why am I so invisible?

you do not seem to see,

all the things I do for you,

I always meet your needs.

I know that when I talk to you,

I may as well be dead,

you do not hear a single thing,

that I have bloody said!

Is it that you do not care?

I find it hard to conceive,

that anything I mention,

you simply don’t believe.

We really aren’t compatible,

I know without a doubt,

one day I’ll take my boring self,

and get the hell right out!

Until that day I’m stuck with you,

and all your childish ways,

I’ll spread my wings and fly away,

(I’m marking off the days!)

And ‘though you didn’t know it,

whilst young and naive,

you danced with the devil,

on that snowy winter’s eve.

You may ask how I know this,

as we danced ‘round the hall,

for whilst he lay sleeping,

‘twas I stole his soul.

As it all becomes clearer,

‘twas I that was naive,

as you danced with the devil,

on that cold February’s eve.

Birds in a row

The day you left,

and walked out the door,

the heart of the house,

beat no more.

You took the flame,

right out of the fire,

clouds cuddled the sun,

and the moon did cry.

The birds they fell silent,

respecting the day,

when you walked out the door,

and went far away.
