One of several versions of the painting “The Scream”. The National Gallery, Oslo, Norway. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
How can you live,
and never question,
stories concocted,
by media suggestion?
I struggle to see,
how this is right,
an injured world,
can’t sleep at night.
Journalists quick,
to make a buck,
from someone’s misfortunes,
or tragic bad luck.
Magazine trash,
knows the score,
dishing out scandal,
Lies, misery, and more.
Governments depict,
skewed stories suspect,
maintain and inflame,
continued conflict.
All life is precious,
for us to squander,
time and energy,
on false propaganda.

Beautiful as always – both the painting and the words 🙂
-Naima.
Alas I can’t take credit for the painting only the words!
Thank you 🙂
Well, ya made the painting speak for itself so CREDIT ultimately goes to you 😉
-Naima.

Thank you Resa 🙂
I think our world is injured at the moment – lets hope it heals soon 🙂
Thank you for this great post. I have to confess that I’m not a poetry lover but you held my interest. Maybe that’s the best compliment.
Thank you so much – that indeed is a compliment of the highest form. Thank you for taking time out to read and to leave a comment – much appreciated 🙂
Alex
So much hard hitting truth in this poem. Virginia
Thank you very much indeed 🙂
I don’t buy into newspapers and ‘chat’ magazines as I do not wish to support their industry or condone what they are doing.

A challenging read … a challenge to write? Powerful topic; effective image selection adds to the sense of horror.
Thank you Polly – It was one I wrote on retreat, and yes it was a challenge. I’ve spent a while thinking about it and tweaking the 5th stanza which was tricky but I didn’t want to leave it out! Got there in the end – I hope!! 🙂
Wow! I’d say so, Alex, ‘not ‘alf’!
😀
