Blog of the Year 2012

Blog of the Year Award 6 star jpeg

As the year comes to a close, I have received my sixth and final star from two very kind and generous writers,

Harry

and

Unsettled Minds

A massive thank you to both of the above gentlemen for their generosity, inspiration and encouragement! Please take the time to visit both of these kind men and follow their blogs, you will not be disappointed!

The blog of the year award is slightly different as you can collect stars each time you receive the award. There are six stars to collect.

Here are the ‘rules’

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

For more information check the FAQ on The Thought Palette.

Oh my word – where do I start…

Some of these guys and gals may not choose to accept awards, but I hope by giving them recognition for the part they have played in inspiring me – you too will come to enjoy their talents, as I have.

I am afraid I am going to be biased on this last set of awards and hand it back to some amazingly talented poets! They all have different styles and so there is something for everyone’s taste!

Poet’s Corner this is an award for each and every contributor to this fantastic blog – please do take a moment to visit and check out all of the contributors – and especially to Harry, who puts a lot of work into keeping the site alive and running!

20 Lines a Day again, this is an award for all the contributors and especially Melissa, for all her hard work and dedication.

Polly an amazing poet, who has inspired, encouraged and amused me. Please take a moment to check out her latest book – Girl’s got Rhythm – this is a fabulous book!!

Wendy for her encouragement and inspiration. Among the gems of her poetry, some real jewels of children’s poetry are waiting to be uncovered!

Dean J. Baker over the last year, I have enjoyed following his sublime poems.

Thank you to all of the above for your inspiration!

Happy 2013 to every poet, writer, artist and musician out there – may 2013 bring you inspiration and success in your work!

The haunting song,

in a melody,

reminders of you,

in a memory.

Dance the last waltz,

and sing Auld Lang Syne,

our time it was over,

heartbreak be mine.

You danced with another,

I sang a duet,

do you still remember,

the day when we met?

(Reposting, WordPress threw a wobbly)

Fancy an early Christmas present?

well, why not a copy of our new anthology “The Road Less Travelled”? A collection of 38 poems by the best new and contemporary writers out there.

It’s had a successful free-promotional day, which saw it peak at #5 on the free downloads chart in the poetry catalogue on Amazon.co.uk and #11 on Amazon.com, and has sold very well after just a few days for the print edition at Lulu.com, and we are very happy with this.

We feel that this is an anthology which would make a vital addition to any poetry lover’s collection. So, head on over and grab a copy for a very reasonable price.

Karma Milano,

scrawled on a wall,

graffitied in letters,

four foot tall.

3:15 throwies,

an homage on bricks,

tag line, street culture,

for Sheffield six.

Rastafari!

Lovingly sprayed,

on the wall of a tunnel,

devotion displayed.

Gouranga, nostalgia,

for he who dares,

high on a bridge,

black on white squares.

Station slam wildstyles,

pigmented praise,

beatification,

now,  let us spray.

A spot of heaven,

anarchic art,

a ghost of a shadow,

let us depart.

I wear a pashmina of pain,

and my grief as a gown,

sorrow bedecks,

a thorned crown.

I haunt this world,

and always will,

until this beating,

heart is stilled.

My soul touches earth,

as I walk on this path,

my visible breath,

‘til I inhale my last.

Don’t bother me so,

with worrisome woes,

don’t ask my name,

as nobody knows.

This is the book in which two of my poems are being published! I feel, ‘proper’, famous!

The details are below, should you wish to purchase the very reasonably priced book! I have been privileged to have a sneak preview and it is a little bit fabulous, with some amazingly talented writers!

The following are details from Dagda Publishing

Well, we are very happy to announce that the print edition of our anthology of new and contemporary poetry “The Road Less Travelled” is now available for purchase through the Lulu.com bookstore: Link here!

The print version costs £3.50 (or local currency equivalent), a very reasonable price for a collection of 38 of the finest poems by contemporary writers about today, and takes 3-5 days to ship (okay, so we miss out on Christmas, but hey – late Christmas present, people).

One last thing. If you do get a copy, please take 10 minutes of your time to bung us back a review on the site you got it from. Cheers!

Good evening all.

We were hoping to have it available as an ebook through the Smashwords bookstore, however some unforeseen problems have delayed it’s inclusion. However, we are currently waiting for Amazon to put it in their Kindle store (at time of writing, it’s been uploaded, and the file is awaiting publication through their automated process), so watch this space for the news on where to get the Ebook…
