Don’t cry, said Alice,
it’s all a game,
life and death,
it’s all the same.
Don’t be fooled,
it’s all illusion,
don’t believe,
your own delusion.
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
a collection of habits,
that I call, ‘Me’.
Step through the mirror,
beyond the girl,
and look into,
another world.
Experience,
is one third true,
but only for,
the reflected you.
So don’t believe,
all that you feel,
the crux of life –
nothing is real.
So, White Rabbit,
I would say,
there is no point,
to run away…
and Hatter, dear,
we’re all quite mad,
pour the tea,
and don’t be sad.

Fascinating programme this morning on Radio 4 where a prof was discussing Sink Holes, thought to be the inspiration for Alice 🙂
Oh, wow, I didn’t know that – will have to see if I can find it on the ‘listen again’ 🙂
true! pour the tea and don’t be sad 🙂
Tea – a good remedy for most things 🙂
ahaaha yes it is, 🙂
Delightfully written, fun and reflection – and evocative with it. was going to say the thid verse is my favourite then I read it again – and, hey they are all great!
Aw thank you so much, I’m glad you appreciated it 🙂
Love the ending. 🙂
Anything that ends with a cup of tea is alright by me 🙂
I love this Alex. I love all things Alice!
did you see this one? http://wendystrohmpoetry.wordpress.com/children/alice/
Thanks Wendy, yes I do remember your Alice too, a lovely beautifully crafted poem. Maybe someone should start an Alice anthology 🙂
Now that would be fun! x
