Did I spy a secret,
in the corner of your eye?
If you were to tell me,
would it make me cry?
Do you think it’s worth it,
to keep up this charade?
Life is complicated,
why make it so hard?
Would it not be better,
to go our separate ways?
To accept that it’s all over,
and fight another day.

This is so much like my Windy-style! This touched my heart!!
Much love,
-Naima.
Aw thanks Naima – ooo how exciting – I have a style?? It’s hard to see it when your so close to your work 🙂
❤
When I started reading your poetry, I used to read these kinda poems! So got to read it after a short break, ya see 😉
Much love,
-Naima.
🙂 x
The flow of your words are flawless.
thank you so much – sometimes takes a lot of reading – re-reading, pondering, re-writing before it flows! 🙂
I know. I sometimes work several days on a poem. Then there are days the words just spill out.
Me too… sometimes a poem simmers for months before emerging fully cooked 😀
Yes. Go back to it months later and you can breath life into what you thought was couldn’t be revived.
I have a ‘special’ book where I put my half baked poems. When I am feeling inspired, I check it out and see if I can work my magic on any of them!
Haha! That’s what i do and what I’m going to do when i catch up on these emails. I have several book though. When I’m feeling inspired I buy books and write a few pages and put it them down. Fixed income has taught me how to recycle them.
I use the really cheap notebooks and I have loads! When they are blogged, I write them up neatly in a ‘proper’ book. The ones that are difficult get ripped out and stuck into my ‘to do later’ book! It is a chaotic system! 🙂
Mine is too. I try organizing but a waste of time. I’ll flip a book over and start writing on the first page I come to. sometimes I find surprises when I start writing. I turn the page and there are some great ideas. Rip and start another poem. I thought I was weird but I see I have company. 😀
Haha yes! Don’t even get me started on my middle of the night writing habits! If I wake up in the night with a poem, I have a book close at hand and I write it down in the dark – makes for interesting reading in the morning!!
Hahahaha!! I do that too!!! I write all over the page sometimes 3 or 4 lines. I started using the notepad in my cell phone. But it only allows a limited number of characters. I now have a kindle fire and I use that it has a light and I type it up. When I first got it I wrote some great stuff but didn’t know how to save and lost stuff. I would be so angry my friend said why don’t use a notebook.
Yes! Kindred spirit!! I too use my cell phone but only when I’m out and about – the light is too bright at night!!
I only have the basic kindle, there is no keyboard as such so it is way too slow to type – sometimes the ideas come so fast, if I don’t record them they go in a flash! So… note book and spidery writing in the dark it is!!
I know about the thoughts disappearing. If you get a chance invest in the kindle fire. I also read these emails in bed so I don’t fall too far behind. I can turn the light down real low on the kindle.
It might have to go on my birthday list!! 🙂
Yep! Enjoy the rest of your day. Writing sister. 🙂
Thank you ❤
“a secret in the corner of your eye” AWESOME!
Thank you – it is best described as a shifty ‘man’ look!!! 🙂
I liked that one too! Perfectly descriptive.
Thank you 🙂
Wow… very thought provoking Alex… sensitive ~ and young. Loved it! ~ RL
Thank you Robyn – It had a few re-writes before its release into the blogasphere! 🙂
First two lines are genius Alex ~ interesting write, good read 🙂
Thank you so much Polly – the first two lines were easy, it was the final stanza that gave me a headache!! 🙂
I say yes! Your meaning and intentions were crystal clear in this poem. You did a fab job of putting this together to make it flow. You honed in and made an impact with few words. Nice job!
Celeste
Thank you very much Celeste 🙂
‘If you were to tell me, would it make me cry?’
This is what I look like as I read it over again. You capture the innocent hurt… Hits home. 🙂
