I am a contradiction!

Damaged and fragile,

a smashed up china doll.

Introvert and quiet,

a lone snowdrop,

passed unnoticed –

unwatched and unobserved.

Inside –

a cavern.

Older than time itself.

Deep and hidden,

solid,

like a foundation.

Ever there, ever present,

with a core of steel.

Immovable.

Determined.

A stormy winters night,

brooding and moody,

ethereal, transcendent,

not belonging.

Like a storm cloud passing through.

I am a contradiction,

with a beating

heart.

A Thing of Beauty

You are as strange as a rainbow,
so rarely seen.
You seem real enough,
your bright colours gleam.
I cannot hold you,
touch you,
reach you,
I cannot find your source;
the calm after my storm,
nature with a force.
You are not solid
nor a fanciful flight,
with no use or purpose,
just a beautiful sight.

The Rainbow of my teenage dreams,

colours abound ~ reds, golds and greens.

You’re deadly real, but not quite there,

can’t be held, we can but stare.

We don’t all see the same stormed arc;

my beautiful, beautiful Rainbow Dark.
