Hello dear friends and readers 🙂
This Saturday, 2nd of April, I will be one of the fifty poets taking part in a day of poetry readings. Fifty poets will read throughout the day to raise money for a worthy charity Assist. Assist help destitute refugees and asylum seekers. (There is full information on the link below.)
I know for some, this is an emotive subject at the moment. I am delighted and thrilled to have exceeded my target and have so far raised £145 for the charity. Overall the team has raised in the region of £9000 to help some of the most vulnerable people in Sheffield.
Regardless of who we are, I think we all want to love and be loved, and to feel safe. There are no boundaries in unconditional love.
Now – time for me to start choosing which poems to read on the day. If you are in the vicinity you are welcome to drop in and watch. We start at 10am and finish at 6pm. My slot is 11.10am. It promises to be a day of excellent live poetry, refreshments and the opportunity to purchase poetry books.
If you would like to sponsor me, or want more details click the link below. Thank you 🙂

Read, Alex, read! Canada has taken in 25,000 refugees so far, and we have just budgeted for more!
I’m ashamed to say we have a right wing government and right wing newspapers who are determined to stir up fear and hatred against refugees. So very sad and narrow minded. This project is so important to me. We hope to collectively raise £10,000 for destitute refugees in our city.
Best to you, and your endeavor! If Donald Trump wins…. well, I’m hoping for Hillary.
We have an idealistic young Prime Minister now, Justin Trudeau. He might spend us into poverty, but I like his humane ideas.
I am slightly envious of your government. We have a strong left wing contender in Jeremy Corbyn, alas the right wing papers are constantly rubbishing him, they play dirty. I hope he gets in but I’m not confident he will.
Canada’s recent election was only slightly foul, nothing like what’s happening in America. Playing dirty seems to be the name of the game, everywhere. Unfortunately, terrorism has aroused deep seeded fears in people.
I agree. People seem to be losing perspective. If Trump wins then I fear for the future.
I’m visiting late but do hope you had a captive audience and had fun at the same time.
It was a brilliant morning – standing room only. We raised over £10,000 for destitute refugees and asylum seekers in our area. The event was fabulous and all very talented writers 🙂 xxx
That’s wonderful.
